“I am a self taught photographer based in Melbourne, Australia. I have always had a passion for photography and not so long ago I had a great desire to challenge myself. I have not put the camera down since.
The past year I have been focusing on minimal photography. Shooting buildings at every chance and exploring industrial estates, inspired by spaces and scenes around me.
However, I have recently turned my eye in a different direction, still drawn towards minimal but more of a focus on portrait and documentary photography. My recent project is connected to my work. I work as a music coordinator in various Aged Care Facilities working closely through music with residents that have different levels of cognitive and physical abilities.
I adore this job greatly and have been deeply inspired by the residents I work with as well as my surroundings in my work space.
This has inspired me so much that I have taken on the challenge to make a photo documentary based in one work place.
Here I have been capturing images for a series titled ‘Other Peoples Treasures’” . – Jo Kalinowski, b. London (1966 )
