“I am a Film and TV student excited about film as a material. The physicality of it is what interests me the most, the fact that I can do anything I want with it. I can hold a film strip with 48 frames on it and say that I carry two seconds in my hands.
In filmmaking, I like that it is just an illusion of movement; in photography, I like it for being so simple and elegant.
I always enjoyed looking at old family photos. Then, my mum showed me how to use her old Ricoh. I guess that is how my film journey began. I am constantly in the process of developing new ideas and finding inspiration when it comes to photos I take and films I make.
Exploring the world of experimental cinema is what changed my perspective on art in general. Cameraless films and the early avant-garde movements are at the heart of my current interests.
My main wish is to create haptic images through my photography and capture the unexplainable” – Ola Tomkiewicz
