“My first passion is painting, I have been painting for many years but now photography is slowing taking up more of my time. I work full time in the city of Melbourne, and most of my photography takes place during lunch break and on weekends.
I think photography for me is a creative extension from my painting. I paint people, simplistic, almost abstract images, so maybe the two go hand in hand. I became more and more interested in photography through social media. Photography for me provokes thought, emotion, creativity and wonder.
I photograph people as they fascinate me, I photograph whatever catches my eye, I don’t particularly go looking for a photo, it appears in front of me. I get a certain buzz when the right image presents itself. I hope my images provoke something in the people that view them.” – Renata Filippi
